Our Football Munchkins classes introduce children to their first taste of our national sport, football! The children will learn Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) and Fundamental Football Skills (FFS) in a structured but fun environment. As well as learning and developing their football skills, we also aim to encourage development of social interaction to build confidence and well-being. All of our classes are run by FA Qualified Football Coaches with a range of experience both at home and abroad within Grassroots and Academy football.
At every stage fun is the first and foremost element of every class. Through the use of fun, themed games, we bring something different to our football classes that aren’t used elsewhere. All our Football Munchkins classes combine a learning aspect together with physical skills and are suitable for both boys and girls.
Our classes are split into three age groups: 2-3 year olds, 3-4 year olds and 4-7 year olds.
The youngest Football Munchkins class, where we encourage parent participation, introduces the children to the core movement skills of Agility, Balance, Co-ordination and Speed as well as the most basic football skills like ball striking and dribbling. Teamwork and social skills are two of life’s key skills, so we try to emphasise and practice these as much as possible through lots of fun team games using coloured footballs to promote safety and learning. We also offer fun pod-like games such as passing and receiving, dribbling and scoring lots of goals!
Our middle class is where we encourage our Munchkins to go it alone (although if they do still need parent help, that’s fine too!). During this class we will look to further develop all of the skills learnt in the first class; more ball striking, dribbling, stopping the ball and of course scoring lots of goals! There is still a huge emphasis on fun, teamwork and the development of social skills through our games and pods!
The Munchkins are now close to making the step up to club football and with this in mind, we look to develop their core skills even further. All the games we play are great fun, but all have specific football-relevant themes. We look to refine their skills, but also add some new skill sets into their class which they wouldn’t be getting elsewhere. We do at this level introduce football matches which are excellent for them to identify space and opportunities as well as hone their communication skills. Parents are always welcome to interact but by now they can take their well-earned break with a coffee and the newspaper!

We understand that it is important you choose the right sports class for your child, so we have provided answers to some of the most frequently asked questions parents have when booking with Munchkin Sports. If the answer to your question is not provided below, please contact our Admin Team on admin@munchkinsports.com or on 020 8658 3777, as they are happy to help.
Our Football Munchkins classes are split into three age groups: 2-3 year olds, 3-4 year olds and 4-7 year olds.
The 2-3 and 3-4 year olds classes are 45 minutes long and the 4-7 year olds class is an hour long.
You will need to stay with your child throughout the session. With younger children we actively encourage parents help their children during the session whilst with the older children we encourage the children to build their independence and hence parents take on more of a supportive role from the sidelines.
During the winter months classes will be held in the sports hall and during the summer classes will be held on the outdoor netball courts. There may be occassions where the sports hall is out of action due to school exams; on these occassions we will be outside on the netball courts and an email will be sent to parents ahead of time reminding them of the change and the need to wear warm clothes.
We offer a paid trial session option so that you can try a class before committing to the term. You are under no obligation to sign up for the full term after this trial. After your trial you will be able to discuss the trial with the Head Coach. We hope your child will really enjoy their trial and will be very excited to come back the following week. If however they didn't settle well, the Head Coach may recommend they have another trial in the older or younger class or if you feel that your child is not yet ready to join the classes, you are welcome to come back when they are ready and book another trial session.

Age groupings are a guideline. Please discuss your child's progress with the Head Coach who will advise if they are ready to move to the next class.
We welcome spectators at all our weekend classes, however we would ask parents to ensure that siblings remain on the sidelines and do not participate in the activities or play with the equipment. We ask that if you are photographing your child during the class, that you ensure no other children are present in the photos.
Weekend classes run term time and will not run through the school holidays.
We welcome boys and girls at all of our weekend classes. Our classes are inclusive regardless of gender all ability.
Spaces at our weekend classes are allocated for the term (5-7 week blocks depending on school term dates) and parents are asked to commit for the full term regardless of attendance.
Payments can be made via credit/debit card.
If you are unable to make a class please notify the Admin Team who will report your absence to the Head Coach. Regretfully we cannot offer refunds, credits or catchup classes for non-attendance.
When you first sign up for our weekend classes you will need to pay a one-off joining fee of £37. This joining fee covers your sports insurance with us and as a welcome gift you will also receive a Munchkin Sports rucksack; Munchkin Sports shirt and sports shorts; Munchkin Sports water bottle and Munchkin Sports reward chart
The joining fee is a one-off payment per child. This is transferrable across the sports and if you decide to take a break from our classes this does not need to be paid again when you rejoin.
Subject to class availability it may be possible to transfer your child to a different sport. Please contact the Admin Team to discus this.
Age groupings are a guideline. We recommend that you initially book a trial in your child's appropriate age and discuss with the Head Coach at the end of the session. If your child has additional needs or if you feel like they may struggle in their age group, please contact the Admin Team ahead of booking.
Subject to availability you can join a class part way through a term. Term fees will be prorated. For the following term you will be asked to commit to the full term.
We don't offer refunds however if you are wishing to cancel a booking that is within our notice period we will happily cancel booking and place credit on account for future booking.
At the end of each term we will automatically reserve your child a space in the next term. Please ensure that you follow the link in your re-enrollment email to make payment to secure your place. We do not hold any payment details on file. If you do not wish to continue your classes please contact the Admin Team who will remove your booking.
