Our classes gently introduce children to the world of netball in a fun and exciting way. The program has been designed to lay the foundations of this amazing game through all the key elements including passing, catching, running, spatial awareness, balance, jumping and of course shooting. We encourage both boys and girls to attend our classes. Netball is the perfect starting point for a child’s sporting development.
At every stage, fun is the first and foremost element of every class. Through the use of music, we bring something different to our netball classes that aren’t used elsewhere.
Our classes are split into three age groups: 2-7 year olds, 7-9 year olds and 9-11 year olds.
The youngest Munchkins Netball class, where we encourage parent participation, introduces the children to the core movement skills of agility, balance, coordination and speed. Teamwork and social skills are two of life’s key skills, so we try to emphasise and practice this as much as possible through lots of fun team games using coloured netballs balls to promote safety and learning. We also offer fun pod-like games such as catching, passing, and shooting!
Our middle class encourages Munchkins to develop independence while refining skills like catching, passing, shooting, and jumping. We introduce netball matches to help them identify space, improve communication, and learn basic rules through mini games. While parents are welcome, they can now enjoy a well-earned coffee break! Teamwork, fun, and social skills remain at the heart of our sessions, with engaging games designed to enhance learning in a supportive environment.
The Munchkins are now moving much closer to making the step up to club netball and with this in mind, we look to develop their core skills even further. The munchkins will be learning official netball rules, different types of passing, shooting techniques and gameplay. Within the netball matches, they will be learning some of the positions in netball, alongside developing their own natural flare within the netball game.

We understand that it is important you choose the right sports class for your child, so we have provided answers to some of the most frequently asked questions parents have when booking with Munchkin Sports. If the answer to your question is not provided below, please contact our Admin Team on admin@munchkinsports.com or on 020 8658 3777, as they are happy to help.
Our Netball Munchkins classes are split into three age groups: 2-7 year olds, 7-9 year olds and 9-11 year olds.
The 2-7 year olds class is 45 minutes long and the 7-9 and 9-11 year olds classes are an hour long.
You will need to stay with your child throughout the session. With younger children we actively encourage parents help their children during the session whilst with the older children we encourage the children to build their independence and hence parents take on more of a supportive role from the sidelines.
During the winter months classes will be held in the sports hall and during the summer classes will be held on the outdoor netball courts. There may be occassions where the sports hall is out of action due to school exams; on these occassions we will be outside on the netball courts and an email will be sent to parents ahead of time reminding them of the change and the need to wear warm clothes.
We offer a paid trial session option so that you can try a class before committing to the term. You are under no obligation to sign up for the full term after this trial. After your trial you will be able to discuss how your child got on with the Head Coach. They may recommend another trial in the older or younger class
If you feel that your child is not ready to join the class When you feel they may be ready you are welcome to book and pay for another trial session.
