The health and wellbeing of our families and staff has always been our number one priority, and given the current climate, this is now more important than ever. We are pleased to announce Munchkin Sports are launching Socially Distanced Weekend Sessions!
Restarting our weekend classes in a COVID-safe way
What will we be doing?
Each session will last 45 minutes and will contain aspects of all of our fun ‘normal’ Munchkin Sports Weekend locations, including elements of Rugby, Football and Multi-Sports plus much more! Each session will consist of a variety of different sport and physical activities including: functional / fundamental movements, a warmup, sport skills, activities, games and will finish with a fun game. Each session will be completed within an ‘Activity Square’ with members of the same household only (i.e. Mum/Son, Dad/Daughter). To adhere to government and sport governing body guidance, only one adult and one child are allowed per Activity Square. We will be running all of our usual age groups 2-3yrs / 3-4 years and 4-7 yrs.
How will we make it safe?
Parents and Munchkins will park in the car park (please can we ask, no spectators – as heartbreaking as it is to write this, it’s to limit the number of people in one area) and proceed to the hygiene station to first ensure that they sanitise their hands using the anti-bacterial hand gel provided; parents will be encouraged not to bring any non-essential items with them but for any essential items (i.e. water bottles) anti-bacterial wipes will be provided to wipe down the surfaces of each item. If the hygiene station is occupied, each household will wait at one of the 2m lines drawn on the floor, proceeding forwards as the space in front becomes vacant.
Once all members of the household have finished at the hygiene station, they will proceed to the Registration Table where they will register with a member of the Munchkin Sports team. If the registration table is occupied, each household will wait at one of the 2m lines drawn on the floor, proceeding forwards as the space in front becomes vacant.
Once registered, each family will be directed to their own personal ‘Munchkins Activity Square’, within a ‘Zone’ (consisting of 6 Activity Squares) where they will remain for the duration of the session. Each Activity Square will be made up of four coloured lines (red, blue, yellow and green) and there will be one of each coloured cone (red, blue, yellow and green) within each corner, 2 x Rugby Balls and 2 x Footballs, one of each colour (red, blue, yellow and green), 4 x Hoops, 1 x each colour (red, blue, yellow and green) and 4 x bean bags, 1 x each colour (red, blue, yellow and green) within each Activity Square.
On completion of the session, all equipment will remain inside the Activity Square and the family will proceed to the Hygiene Station before exiting. The coaching staff will clean all of the equipment ready for the following class.
How will the session run?
Using the equipment provided within each Activity Square, the coach (who will be positioned in the middle of each Zone) will direct the Munchkins and the parents as to what game and activity is to be played. The coach will move around the outside of the area, remaining socially distanced and offering guidance, support, coaching and encouragement to each member of their group.
